Tara Bohlen, Private Lessons and Group Class Instructor

Tara Bohlen is a dedicated Violin Instructor at Con Brio String Studio, where she is thrilled to guide students on their music-learning journey. A resident of Santa Rosa Beach, Florida (near Miramar Beach), Tara actively performs as a freelance violinist throughout the Florida Panhandle. She graces the stages as a section violinist with the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra and Sinfonia Gulf Coast, and enchants diners as a solo violinist at elegant fine restaurants—including the upscale venues at Camp Creek in Watersound.

With more than 25 years of teaching experience, Tara previously held positions as a violin and viola professor at the University of Mary, Orchestra Director at Bismarck High School, instructor in Bismarck Public Elementary Schools, leader of the Strolling Strings Performance Group, and Director of the Bismarck-Mandan Symphony Interlude Youth Orchestra.

A graduate of St. Olaf College, Tara is Suzuki Certified and teaches students of all ages and abilities—from age 3 through adults. Her students have achieved remarkable success, earning top ratings in local and state music festivals, winning young artist competitions, securing college music scholarships, becoming music teachers themselves, and pursuing professional performing careers.

Tara has adjudicated for the NDHSAA, WDA, state music festivals, and All-State auditions. She enjoys composing arrangements for string orchestra, quartets, and chamber ensembles.

In addition to her classical work, Tara performs improvisational violin at her church and for special events. She has appeared with tribute and revival bands, including Mannheim Steamroller, Kansas, Allman Brothers Revival, Serpentine Fire (Earth, Wind & Fire tribute), and Led Zeppelin tributes.

Together with her husband Josh, Tara formed a unique Violin/Rap Duo (known as B-L’Attitude), which performed at Medora, TEDx events, and as guest artists with the Bismarck-Mandan Civic Chorus. In 2016, she was voted North Dakota’s Favorite Instrumentalist at the North Dakota Music Awards.

Tara is a proud mother of three daughters, all of whom play string instruments and perform together as the Bohlen String Quartet.
